Journal 03 - “Your Body is Speaking… Are You Listening?”

Thursday, 07th August, 2025.

Jai Shree Krishna!

Somewhere between the chaos of deadlines, conversations, and expectations —

my body shuts down before my mind catches up.

I don’t always notice it at first.

Not until I realise I haven’t touched my brushes in days.

Not until I catch myself hunched, holding my breath, with my jaw clenched tight.

And when I finally pause, I hear it —

the language my body has been speaking all along.

Because the truth is:

Your body always knows first.

It holds emotions long before your mind names them.

It whispers through aches. It speaks through slumps.

It holds tension like secrets — in your shoulders, neck, hips, back.

It stores the unsaid, the undone, the unresolved.

This week in our wellness community, Mansi — a physiotherapist who deeply

understands the mind-body connection — reminded us:

“Each muscle in your body stores different emotions.

Tension in the jaw or neck often hints at unspoken stress.

A heavy chest or rounded shoulders may carry grief or overwhelm.

Even recurring lower back pain can be your body whispering (or yelling!) about

emotional burdens or lack of support.”

I sat with those words.

And I thought about how many times I’ve ignored what my body was trying to say.

When my art felt blocked — it wasn’t lack of inspiration. It was emotional exhaustion.

When I couldn’t sleep — it wasn’t just overthinking. It was my body screaming for

safety.

When I felt irritable — it wasn’t a mood. It was my nervous system holding on too

tightly.

So now, I’ve started doing something simple.

I check in.

Not on my to-do list.

Not on my emails.

But on my body.

I ask:

Where am I holding tension?

What emotion might be living there?

What do I need right now — truly?

And I’ve found that healing doesn’t always come in big answers.

It often starts with small, gentle acts:

Taking 3 full breaths — and actually feeling them.

Sitting in silence with my hands in soil.

Doing one slow shoulder roll while whispering “I’m here.”

Touching colour — not to create, but to connect.

Because when you start listening to your body,

you’re no longer abandoning yourself.

You’re coming home — slowly, gently, fully.

Let’s reflect together…

Where in your body do you feel your emotions the most?

And what’s one small thing you can do today — to release, to honour, or simply to

listen?

With love,

Nidhi
